Billy Knight Sparked and Led LA Loop to Beat the Problems at the Drew League!

After the winning at the Drew League’s opening game, LA Loop (black) played against the Problem (white) at the league’s Week 2 game on May 26th. The game was so close all the time, but Billy Knight lead the team to win with 31 points and 10 points.

In the first quarter, #5 Dominick Brumfield scored the first point for LA Loop from his free throw. #3 Billy Knights (@Billy_Knight33) followed him and controlled the game with dunk shoot and 3 pointers. On the other hand, #33 Troy Gillenwater took the lead of the Problems. The Problems ended up the first quarter with 20-19. LA Loop was down by 1 point.

At the beginning of the second quarter, LA Loop couldn’t cope with the Problems’ full court press, and made couple of turnovers. 3 minutes after the second quarter, LA Loop let them lead the game with 4 points. Even though #7 Ken Tanaka made tip-off shoot and the key player of the game, Billy Knight, kept scoring points after a timeout, LA Loop still made more turnovers failed to stop the Problems. Half time score was 42-33. The problem extended their lead to 9 points.

In the third quarter, #6 Keith Davis hustled and led the team to catch up with the Problems lead into 4 points after 4 minutes the third quarter. But the Problems also played hard and they dragged LA Loop’s turnovers. They recovered their lead to 8 points. At this point, LA Loop put #11 Kris Lawrie, who didn’t have many play time on the last game, to the court. His contribution at defense was the turning point of the game. He made steals and took the Problems’ offensive charges. At the end of the third quarter, LA Loop turned the game and led the game by 1 point against the Problems with the score of 59 points.

In the final quarter, Kris Lawrie continued to lead LA Loop with his defense, and LA Loop extended the point lead to 9 points. But, the Problems’ attacks led LA Loop’s 21 turnovers, and they tied up the game at the 1:30 to go in the quarter. However, a 31-point-scoreler, Billy Knight made tie-breaking point from the steal and brought the game lead to LA Loop. LA Loop also made all of 4 free throws from the Problems’ foul game, and ended up the game with 71-77.

At the second game for LA Loop at the Drew League, players seemed getting to know each other well. Also, Keith Davis and Billy Knight showed leadership as well experienced players. Moreover, Kris Lawrie have improved game by game. These methods brought today’s win to LA Loop.
